Victims of Car Accidents Deserve Fair Compensation

At Dwyer Williams Potter, Attorneys, LLP, we believe that victims of car accidents deserve fair compensation.

Unfortunately, the insurance companies that represent negligent drivers disagree. They will do everything they can to avoid doing what is right for auto crash victims. Without an experienced lawyer on your side, getting fair compensation is nearly impossible.

We Can Help You Get Fair Compensation

With more than 65years of combined experience on our side, we can help you get the compensation you deserve. In the last couple of years alone, we have recovered more than $12 million in compensation for our injured clients.

Defining Negligence

The challenge to obtaining fair compensation is determining whether the other driver was negligent or otherwise is legally at fault. Driver negligence is defined as either doing something that a reasonable person would not do, or not doing something that a reasonable person would do.

Common acts of negligent driving that might cause a car accident include:

  • Speeding or driving too fast for traffic conditions and weather conditions
  • Failing to keep proper control of one’s vehicle
  • Failing to yield the right of way
  • Failing to use headlights or turn signals
  • Failing to obey traffic control devices, such as stop signs or stop lights

Drunk Driving: More Than Negligence

Sometimes a car accident is caused by an act that goes beyond negligence. When a person gets into a vehicle while intoxicated, they are considered reckless, and are breaking the law.

In these cases, in addition to the compensation required in other car accidents, the drunk driver may be required to pay punitive damages for his or her recklessness. This is an award of money that is intended to punish the driver that caused the accident.

Our lawyers will strive to get this and all possible compensation for you.
