As a general rule, we advise our clients not to settle the case until a reasonable time after they are released by their doctor and are doing all the activities they did prior to the accident. We recommend this because doctors are optimistic by nature and most clients, without major and life threatening injuries, do get better. However, in a fair number of cases, even after they are released, the client is not as good as new and still has problems. If your case is settled before you know the full nature and extent of your injuries, you will be short changed on the amount of your settlement, because you are not able to re-open your case once it is settled.

Received a nastygram from a high school class today. I wish they could see the machine we're really up against. We're the good guys.

You have a duty to mitigate your damages. Essentially this means do not do anything to make your situation worse.
